A Magical Morning in Abu Dhabi's Desert with Desert Rose Tourism
Early morning in Abu Dhabi holds secrets untold, and I recently had the privilege of unlocking a few with Desert Rose Tourism. Picked up from my hotel at the crack of dawn – 4 AM to be exact – the humid air clung to my newly blown out hair as we embarked on an adventure that promised dune bashing, sunrise magic, and a rendezvous with camels.
To my surprise, the desert greeted us with a chilly embrace, a stark contrast to the thick warmth of the city. The anticipation was palpable as our convoy headed into the vast expanse of golden dunes. The thrill of dune bashing before the sun had even risen was an exhilarating way to kick-start the day.
As the first light began to paint the sky, our convoy made a poetic pause to witness the sunrise. It was a beauty like no other – the serene quiet of the desert, the perfect temperature that seemed to defy the clock, and the sun's slow ascent, reluctant to rush despite the fleeting moment. It was a sensory spectacle that etched itself into memory.
With the sun now gracing the desert with its warmth, we continued our dune bashing, accompanied by adventurous Arabic music that resonated with the surroundings, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience. A stop at a camel farm awaited us.
Contrary to my initial expectation of camel riding, we were there just to say hello to these majestic creatures. The close encounter with the camels felt surreal against the backdrop of the serene desert landscape.
The desert adventure continued with sandboarding – that initially seemed like an uphill battle (literally). Climbing up the sand hill with a board was more challenging than any snowy slope with skis. However, the reward was a speedy descent down the sandy incline. For a first-timer like me, the experience was both impressive and exhilarating. Perhaps it's time to consider trading in my skis for a snowboard!
