A 7-Day Journey from Rome to Sorrento to Capri
Hey wanderlusters! Looking for the best way to spend 7 days in Southern Italy. Get ready for the deets:
Day 1-2: Roaming Rome
Touchdown in Rome and dive straight into history mode. Colosseum, Vatican, Pantheon, Roman Forum – don’t just tick them off the bucket list, but take the time to soak up the history. Ignore the other tourists around you and imagine you were there in Roman times. There’s only so much time in a day, so maybe pick the top 4 sights you want to visit and really explore them - without worrying about the time.
End the day with dinner at a local joint - how do you know if you’re walking into a tourist trap? Big portions! Those aren’t local. Remember this – small dishes, big flavor!
Day 3-4: Training to Sorrento
All aboard the train to Naples, then another to Sorrento. For a fairytale stay, check into Bellevue Syrene – you’ll wake up to magnificent views of the Amalfi Coast. Sorrento is the ideal home base for quick jaunts to Positano, Revello, and Capri.
Day 5: Positano Lovin'
Positano, you beauty! Narrow streets, local shops, and coastal eats – felt like I stepped into a postcard. Spent the day soaking in the vibes of this charming village.
Day 6: Capri Dreams
Boat ride from Sorrento to Capri – and feel like you’re in a movie. Explore all the grottos - maybe if you’re lucky, the weather will allow for a trip to the Blue Grotto (ours didn’t). You can walk or tram up the hill and even visit Anacapri – total dreamland.
We walked up the hill to the top of Capri and treated ourselves to a glass of wine. This was after spending time strolling through the beautiful shops.
While on the boat ride, ask for the history lesson behind the Dolce & Gabbana rocks Each rock has a name - the first, still attached to the land, is called Stella. The second, separated from the first block by a stretch of sea, Faraglione di Mezzo. The third, meaning the head, Faraglione di Fuori, or Scopolo.
Day 7: Sorrento Send-off
Last day in Sorrento – started with a caffè and a view of Mount Vesuvius. Take a swim and let your body soak up the mineral-rich water. Then end the day with a sunset at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. The piano man truly creates an experience you will never forget.
Sorrento, you have my heart. 🇮🇹✨
